Do I need a Fishing License?
Anyone 16 or older needs a Florida saltwater fishing license unless exempt. Kids under 16 do not need one.
Florida residents: The Saltwater Shoreline Fishing License is free and covers fishing from the beach. Residents 65 and older are exempt with proof of age and residency, such as a Florida driver’s license or ID.
Visitors (non-residents) 16 and older, including those 65+: You’ll need a non-resident saltwater fishing license: $17 for 3 days, $30 for 7 days, or $47 for 1 year (handling fees extra).
Licenses are available online at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com, from license agents and county tax collector offices, or by calling 888-FISH-FLORIDA (888-347-4356).
License requirements, prices, and purchase options are set by the FWC and are subject to change. Please confirm the current rules at MyFWC.com/License before your trip.
